On Friday, January 16, Qué Tal morning elementary students will have another Cultural Friday at St. Barnabas. The presentation will highlight how music unites cultures.
We will explore music from Latin America and learn about different musical instruments. Every country has different musical styles and rhythms, and we will listen to music from Colombia, Argentina, Mexico and Cuba. Some of these songs are very popular and may already be familiar to Qué Tal students. At home, ask your child if they recognized a song and see if they can tell you from what country it originated.
We are also going to build a musical instrument from Latin America: a rain stick (“palo de agua”). Students will be able to recreate this simple instrument at home.
Our afternoon students will have this cultural experience on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church.
