Qué Tal parents,
We would like to let you know about some Spanish-speaking cultural events that are coming up at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. These events offer students a great opportunity to enjoy a performance while putting their Spanish skills to use.
On October 22.2014, the Creole Choir of Cuba performs.
From the Ordway:” Experience the heart and soul of Cuba through irresistible melodies, poetic lyrics and impassioned vocal and percussive performance. With influences from both the Caribbean and West Africa, the Creole Choir of Cuba tells stories of survival, faith and tragic history, drawing you in with infectious music.”
On February 7, 2014, CONTRA-TIEMPO, an urban Latin dance company performs.
From the Ordway: CONTRA-TIEMPO “fuses elements of Salsa, Afro-Cuban, hip-hop, urban and contemporary dance to create an invigorating performance. Contra-Tiempo’s newest piece, “Full Still Hungry,” features live music and aims to open dialogue about how food, race, privilege, and cultural consumption impact our everyday lives.”
