July 7th. State guidelines around scenarios for the Fall.

Dear Parents,

In our survey in May you overwhelmingly asked us to continue the program next fall (remote/in person) and we have developed (and will continue refining) plans to operate under a variety of scenarios.

On June 18th, The MN State published:

1) The MDH “2020-2021 Planning Guide for Schools” and

2) The MDE Guidance for Public schools 2020-2021.

MD of Health (MDH) asked schools to develop 3 contingency plans:

Scenario 1: In-person learning for all students.

Scenario 2: Hybrid model with strict social distancing and capacity limits

Scenario 3: Distance learning only

Governor Walz’s Office, in consultation with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), will determine and announce the scenario model under which schools may reopen for the 2020-21 school year based on state COVID19 metrics by the week of July 27.

What we know/have decided so far:

A) MN State will issue a directive the last week of July

B) Whatever Districts decide will Impact our offer.

C) We are developing contingency plans for all 3 scenarios. (and they will be refined once we get detailed plans by District).

D) When we teach remotely, we will have 4 sessions per week for elementary students and 3 for middle school students (same intensity/frequency as in years past). (unused Club tuition will be refunded as well as transportation fee in Edina)

E) When we have in person sessions, we’ll most likely require students & teachers to wear face coverings at all time. (and staff and parents too).

E) Our protocols will make our environment as safe as possible; discipline will be key.

What you could do to help us in the meantime:

a) Reinforce hygiene critical aspects with your student: hand wash and cover your cough.

b) Have your student practice wearing face coverings for extended time. (anyone how has worked in an environment where PPE is required know how difficult it is at first, and then how you get adjusted and used to it)

c) Practice some Spanish. (try using Tumble books) You can log in by going to: www.tumblebooklibrary.com
